Subject: Need help for Hart volve Surgery

Mother of Sadanand Kadam (Sushila Kadam).need help for her heart volve surgery , her age 53 They had primary consultation with Surgeon Dr. Bhatnagar at Nanavati hospital. Surgery cost 1.75Lkhs, need to operate immediatly to save her live, Kadam from very low profile background.

Steps taken till now:

1)Had a prelimenery dignosis , except Angiography coz it will cost Rs.15,000/- cound not sufi 4 pre post report, medicin. 2) Pooled around Rs.36,000/- from their savings and from office colleagues.

Doctor advised that with this kind of seviority of patient , listed trust for help would not disburse fund for surgery .

How can a Sadanand gather 1.75 lkhs or get his mother's heart sergery totally free. because amount gathered not sufficient for pre post surgery even.

The Sapling Project is about planting and distributing saplings, free of cost to one and all in different parts of our country.

The model is simple, we collect funds, buy Plant Saplings and distribute it free of cost to anyone who sign up on the website or turn up at the event.

While most tree plantation drives are done in Parks or Forest areas, we think it's the colonies and buildings in suburbs, that need more trees where one can monitor the health and progress of one's planted sapling.

We would be conducting the 3rd Sapling Project drive on June 6th, 2010 in Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Calcutta, Delhi & Pune.

We look forward to your support and contribution towards making out cities greener and help us in buy and distribute more saplings.

You can sponsor any amount (Cash, Cheque ) to the cause to either Ranjeet Walunj or to  (Satish Vijaykumar) or handover at the venue.

Screening of The Other Song on May 25, at IIC, New Delhi

You are cordially invited to the screening of

The Other Song

a film by Saba Dewan

Date: Tuesday, May 25, 2010
Time: 6.30 PM
Venue: Main Auditorium, India International Centre, New Delhi

In 1935 Rasoolan Bai the well known singer from Varanasi recorded for the gramaphone a thumri that she would never sing again - Lagat jobanwa ma chot, phool gendwa na maar (My breasts are wounded, don't throw flowers at me).A variation of her more famous bhairavi thumri - Lagat karejwa ma chot, phool gendwa na maar (My heart is wounded, don't throw flowers at me), the 1935 recording, never to be repeated, faded from public memory and eventually got lost.

More than seventy years later the film travels through Varanasi, Lucknow and Muzzafarpur in Bihar to search for the forgotten thumri. This journey opens a Pandora's box of life stories, memories, half remembered songs and histories that for long have been banished into oblivion. It brings the film face to face with the enigmatic figure of the tawaif, courtesan, bai ji and the contested terrain of her art practise and lifestyle. To find the lost other song the film must understand the past and present of the tawaif  and  unravel the significant transitions that took place in late 19th and early 20th century around the control, censorship and moral policing of female sexualities and cultural expression.

Duration:  120 minutes
Language: Hindi / Urdu / English / English subtitles

Counsel Your Dog? Well NATASHA can do it best

here is her mail. rush to her with your doggies.

From: Natasha Chandy <natasha.chandy@gmail.com>

I am a trained Canine Behaviour Counselor.

No.... I dont sit the dog down on a couch and offer him tissues to weep into. They don't communicate and function like us, of course! They do have their own way - its unique and amazing. Every bark means something! Every wag of the tail means something!

From dogs who have behaviour like constantly catching their own tails to dogs who just wont eat unless fed by their human companion - if you think its a problem and need help - contact me - I can figure ways to set it right.

Please pass on this mail to everyone you know who might need help as well.

COUNSEL THE DOG

Now counselors for dogs help correct their behaviour

Jayashree Nandi | TNN

Have a depressed dog? Get him/her counselled. Just like there are counseling psychologists for humans, now there are counsellors for dogs. The trend is just picking up in India including Bangalore and may go a long way in dealing with suffering pets or even dogs in shelters. These specialists are not dog trainers but counsellors who do not use force or instil fear to correct behavioral disorders.
Dogs are not humans. Obvious as it may sound, many people including ardent pet lovers misunderstand dog behaviour. The 'canine counsellors' focus on the in
nate behavior of dogs and their instincts to find out what went wrong.
According to canine counsellor Natasha Chandy who has completed her course in canine behaviour recently, dogs can feel high levels of fear, can have severe phobias, separation anxiety, food-related problems such as being fussy eaters, eating their own feces, stealing.
Dogs can show behaviours that are a result of low to high levels of stress, dogs can suffer from obsessive compulsive behaviours; they may bark and chew up things due to boredom or to seek attention. Instead of losing hope on the

pet, abandoning it or even contemplating putting it down, counselling is worth a try.
The counsellors treat the dog by tracking its innate behaviours. For instance, like wolves, their innate instinct is to hunt or to chase. If that is curbed then they develop behavioural problems.
For instance, if your pet dog is on the terrace and wants to bark at other dogs passing by and if you stop him, he might develop stereotypical behaviours such as chasing his tail non-stop or licking his skin to the point where a medical condition known as the 'Lick Granuloma' gets formed.
The counsellors, unlike oldfashioned dog trainers who use
force and instil fear in them, use other methods to rectify such problem behaviour. The dog usually has to be taken to the counsellor once for a couple of hours. Then the counsellor creates a customized solution and gives it to the owner that he has to practise at home. "The tools and techniques used to help the owners and their companion canines are based on latest research done on the canine species. All the latest teaching techniques are based on the principle that trust established between the owner and the dog is key to resolving the problem. The owner implements the programme given to him by the counsellor to resolve the issue," adds Natasha.
According to Shirin Merchant who specializes in canine counselling in Mumbai and is an associate of The Northern Centre for Animal Behaviour, England, the trend has just started picking up. "People are now more accepting of the fact that dogs have behavioural problems. Veterinary doctors, dog trainers and groomers are plenty but counselors are relatively new. Groomers or trainers are not qualified in dealing with behavioural problems. Wrong advice can ruin a dog. There are many selfstyled behaviorists who try to treat by reading books or looking online. It's not a good idea," says Shirin. The concept is popular abroad though.

I am a handicap student studying in Bhavans College. I am appearing for Third Year BSc in April this year. I am staying at Andheri East. It is difficult for me to walk and board a train or bus. I am told that the Mumbai Ubiversity has alloted my examination centre at Mira road. To go there I will have to go in a rickshaw or taxi. I am a poor student and cannot afford to travel such a long distance and pay the rickshaw or taxi fare. I may beg barrow or do some thing but more than that it will take about 1.5 hours to travel each journey from Andheri East. This means loss of three hours every day so I cannot prepare for the next examination.
I wrote a letter with my disability certificate duly certified by the Principal to the Controller of Examination, Mumbai University last month but till today I have received no reply. I have to request my welwishers to kindly take up the matter with the Ubiversity authorities and get me proper Centre near my residence that is in Andheri East or West.
